Personality & Perspective

Who's the Person you are looking to hire?

Resilient, interested… a learner & doer, who gets his hand dirty. That’s the Detroit in me, working metal fab for three summers during college,  and a semester at Cambridge. The young professional in me went through the trials of super-competitive NYC doing high-end content creation and marketing programs. While always being interested in the many brilliant people I got to engage with and learn from.

The “selling part” is largely a function of messaging and positioning. All the experience I have is about using the tools given to me to present a strategy, opportunity, or a solution, in the best way, to the most appropriate people, and at a point of acceptance or high interest. Business services, college planning, executive education, IR/PR, capital markets or the financial services landscape... It’s selling and it's first a function of communication, targeting and solutions language.

Doing this successfully through my formative years, my first big attempt was to build a venture fund. Together with a very bright financial analyst, the concept was to acquire business development clients with a retainer/equity consulting agreement. As we got these projects funded through private equity, our equity would serve as a basis to pursue a raise. Large national client. Check. Hundreds of new business chats leading to around a dozen projects with a mixture of brilliant entrepreneurs, opportunities and brands. Check, Alright we got a lot of momentum, notched successes for clients (raises, partnerships & market expansion strategies). Enter stage left, the life altering skiing trauma.

Long recovery and an intense corporate gig led me to build (with a passionate team) another enterprise. Our mission sought to solve parent’s Pay-for-College problem, and included robust infrastructure, and a dynamic content strategy adapted across multiple lead generation systems. The heavy lifting broke my back (literally; from the previous injury) and as I struggled through another recovery, the partners wanted to shift to a low information consumer. That’s not my wheelhouse, and as they continue to pursue those interests we parted cordially.

I enjoy building businesses, teams, and revenue (I make money for people wherever I go).  It's the combination of  skills, experience & passion to impact the growth of an organization that I am eager to share. If it was just about money I'd financial advise full-time. It's about using my energy, enthusiasm and my unique market perspectives to do something special.

The Detroiter in me loves Mediterranean (Lebanese, Greek)

Italian - When challenged I recalled about 40+ types of noodles and their best application. ...I narrowed it to 3 good choices but it'll probably end-up being the short ribs pappardelle.

New Yorker

Practiced with world class teammates on my club team. And while I was one of the best in my high school league; I would get my butt kicked by everyone in practice.

This provided lessons of greatness, effort and humility that have lasted a lifetime. As  well as my first experiences working amongst world class talent and fitting in.

UWS is my second home. I learned when they call in your order in at Tom's Diner and yell "make it good, make it good" it means they're feeding a local.

"Yah, let's just walk there; and yes I will slow down for you."

Detroitish

Detroitish

Born and raised in South Detroit if Journey (Steve Perry) didn't make it up. So Downriver of Southwest but not Windsor. And home of the Detroit Lions.

The GRIT thing holds true.

Spartan

Part of being a Spartan is being able to carry a beer through a crowded room and most importantly have a conversation when you get there.

Too often the conversation was about package engineering but the sentiment is about being               well-rounded. "Go Green!"
